1일 대구소방안전본부에 따르면 이번 특별 안전점검은 화재 위험성이 큰 겨울철을 앞두고 최근 농수산물도매시장 화재와 2016년 서문시장 화재 등과 같은 대형화재 방지를 위해 추진한다.

효과적인 점검을 위해 소방본부 특별조사팀을 중심으로 건축, 전기, 가스 등으로 합동점검 팀을 꾸려, 전통시장 및 도매시장 121개소에 대한 특별 안전점검을 실시한다.

대체적으로 노후된 시장의 특성을 감안해 소방시설 정상 작동 여부를 중점 확인하고, 피난·방화 시설, 노후 전기 시설, 불량 가스배관, 가설건축물 적정 설치 등 각 분야별 시설을 세밀하게 살펴볼 방침이다.

이번 점검을 통해 지적된 사항 가운데 경미한 사항은 현장에서 즉시 보완하고, 중대한 위반사항은 보완명령 조치 등을 통해 최대한 빠른 시일 내 조치를 완료할 계획이다.

또 시장 상인과의 간담회를 통해 화재 경각심을 높이고, 냉장(동)고 후면 먼지 청소, 난방용품 주변 가연성 물질 방치 금지 등 행정지도를 병행하며 관계자의 화재 안전의식을 높일 계획이다.

정남구 대구소방안전본부장은 “오는 11월 9일 소방의 날에는 기존의 경축행사 대신 이태원 사고의 교훈을 되새기며 화재예방 캠페인 등 현장 안전 활동에 집중할 계획”이라며 “겨울철 화재예방을 위해 시민 여러분의 각별한 관심과 적극적인 협조를 당부드린다”고 밝혔다.
