【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=2회 연속 드론특별자유화구역에 지정된 경주시는 3회 지정 도전에 나선다고 4일 밝혔다.

경주시에 따르면 드론특별자유화구역은 규제로 인해 어려움을 겪던 도심 내 드론활용 실증을 촉진하기 위해 국토교통부 장관이 지정하는 일종의 규제 완화 특구다.

경주시의 드론특구는 △남산지구(0.26㎢):내남면 월암재 인근 △월성지구(0.57㎢):인왕동 석빙고 인근 △대릉원지구(0.81㎢):황남동 대릉원 인근 △산성지구(0.90㎢):천군동 진평재 인근 등 4곳이다.

특구 지정기간은 2021년 7월부터 2025년 6월까지 총 4년간이며 현재 경주시는 국토부가 지정한 실증사업 참여자 업체와 함께 드론활용 실증을 촉진하기 위한 다양한 사업을 추진하고 있다.

경주시의 드론특구 추진 방향은 문화재 관리 및 안전사고 예방과 노후 건축물 안전 진단 시스템 등 드론표준도시 구현이 핵심 골자다.

또한 메타버스 산업의 성장에 발맞춰 드론으로 한국형 3D 데이터를 활용해 가상공간 자체 콘텐츠 생성 및 시제품 개발에도 나설 계획이다.

특히 올해부터는 야간 군집 드론 아트쇼 콘텐츠 제작 및 실증사업에도 나서 미래 지향적인 관광 도시로서의 면모를 강화할 예정이다.

경주시는 이를 바탕으로 내년 6월에 있을 드론특별자유화구역 3차 지정을 위해 행정력을 집중할 방침이다.
