【브레이크뉴스 대구】박은정 기자=한국가스공사(사장 채희봉)는 지난 24일 대구 엑스코(EXCO)에서 한국철강협회(회장 최정우)와 ‘고압 주배관용 수소 배관 개발 협력'을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다고 밝혔다.

행사에는 정광재 가스공사 수소사업본부장, 박을손 한국철강협회 친환경에너지강재위원장 등 양 기관 관계자 10여 명이 참석했다.  

양 기관은 이번 협약으로 국산 수소 혼입·전용 고압 배관 개발, 천연가스 배관을 활용한 수소 혼입 검증, 관련 국내 법규 제·개정 등 다양한 분야에 힘을 모으기로 했다.

현재 가스공사가 운영 중인 고압·대용량 천연가스 인프라를 활용한 수소 공급을 위해서는 이에 특화된 안전하고 경제적인 고강도 철강재 및 수소 배관 개발이 필요하다.

정광재 수소사업본부장은 “앞으로 철강협회와 긴밀히 협력해 기자재 국산화를 통한 수소 공급 인프라 마련 및 수소경제 활성화에 선도적 역할을 수행해 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 최근 정부는 온실가스 감축 및 수소 공급 확대를 위해 민관 합동으로 ‘도시가스 수소 혼입 실증 추진단’을 발족했으며, 가스공사는 그 일원으로서 2026년 도시가스 수소 20% 혼입 상용화를 목표로 기술 개발에 박차를 가할 계획이다.
