시에 따르면 이번 여름철 자연재난 종합대책기간에는 기상특보 발표 전 단계부터 선제적으로 24시간 비상근무 체계를 유지하는 등 인명·재산 피해를 최소화하기 위한 대응 활동에 총력을 기울였다.

여름철 자연재난 종합대책 기간 중, 대구의 강수량은 465.4mm로 평년(813.7mm)의 57%에 그쳤다.

지난 9월 5일~6일에 11호 태풍 힌남노의 영향으로 112.8mm의 비가 내린 것을 제외하고는 태풍 영향이 없었고, 장마기간 강수량은 124.8mm로 평년(277.3mm)의 45%에 그쳤다. 

장마 이후 중부지방에는 집중호우가 내린 반면, 대구는 기상 가뭄이 지속됐다.

대구시는 올해 여름철 자연재난 종합대책 기간 동안 호우·태풍에 대응하기 위해 연인원 7,372명을 동원해 총 9회에 걸쳐 비상근무를 실시했다.

위험 요인이 있는 하천시설 등 12개 분야에 대해 풍수해 대책 특별점검팀을 5월부터 운영해 재해취약지역을 점검했고, 태풍 발생이 빈번한 가을철에는 태풍 대응 특별전담팀을 구성해 방재시설물 및 재해우려지역 544개소에 대해 사전점검 및 예찰 활동을 실시했다.
