28일 시에 따르면 지난해 11월에 경상북도 최초로 출범한 김천복지재단은 1년이 지나면서 후원자가 꾸준히 늘어 현재 443명의 후원자로부터 6억9천만원의 성금이 모금됐다.

모금된 후원금으로 올해는 김천형SOS긴급지원사업으로 13가구에 2천4백만원, 희망복지공동체지원사업으로 8개소에 3천4백만원이 지원됐으며, 또한 복지사각지대에 있는 어려운 이웃 350가구에 밀키트와 가정용 소화기를 전달하는 등 지역 특성에 맞는 복지공동체를 구축해 나가고 있다.

12월 1일부터 경북사회복지공동모금회에서 진행하고 있는 희망2023 나눔캠페인은 지난 27일 현재 320명의 시민들이 동참해 2억8천만원의 성금이 접수됐다.

이 성금은 경북사회복지공동모금회를 통해 어려운 청소년 130명에게 장학금 5천9백만원이 전달됐으며, 복지사각지대에 있는 어려운 이웃 97가구에 생계비 및 의료비 1억9천만원이 지원됐다.

이와 함께 읍면동행정복지센터를 통해서도 다양한 후원물품이 접수되는 등 추운 날씨에 어려움을 겪고 있는 취약계층에게 온정이 손길이 이어지고 있다.

김충섭 김천시장은 “시민들의 정성어린 후원금과 후원물품을 신속하고 촘촘하게 배분하여 복지사각지대를 해소하고 사회안전망을 구축해 시민 모두가 행복한 김천 만들기에 최선을 다하겠다.”고 말했다.

한편, 김천시에서는 복지사각지대 신고센터를 운영하여 복지사각지대 해소에 노력해 나가고 있으며, 내년 1월 31일까지 희망2023 나눔캠페인을 지속적으로 펼쳐 불우이웃돕기 성금을 모금할 계획이다.

   Kim Choong-seop, mayor of Gimcheon, said, "We will do our best to make Gimcheon happy for all citizens by distributing donations and sponsored goods promptly and closely to eliminate welfare blind spots and establish a social safety net."

   Meanwhile, Gimcheon City is operating a welfare blind spot report center to make efforts to eliminate welfare blind spots, and plans to continue the Hope 2023 Sharing Campaign until January 31 next year to raise money to help the less fortunate.
