늘봄학교란 학교 안팎의 다양한 교육 자원을 활용해 희망하는 초등학생에게 정규 수업 전후로 양질의 교육·돌봄을 제공하는 서비스이다.

경북교육청은 오는 3월부터 도내 40여 개 초등학교를 대상으로 늘봄학교를 시범 운영한다고 밝히며 초등학교 입학 초, 1학년 1학기 정규 수업 후 신입생 중 희망하는 학생들을 대상으로 놀이·체험 중심의‘초1 에듀케어 프로그램’을 운영할 계획이다.

방과후 강사, 퇴직교원, 희망 교원 등을 활용한 학급 단위 미술, 북아트, 마술, 놀이체육 등 다양한 방과후 프로그램을 운영하여 질 높은 교육·돌봄 서비스 제공한다.

또한 지역별·학교별 여건에 따라 아침돌봄, 오후돌봄, 저녁돌봄, 일시돌봄 등 신청을 통해 이용할 수 있는 다양한 유형의 돌봄을 마련해 돌봄 서비스를 확대 제공하고 아침돌봄 시 간편식을 제공해 이른 아침 맞벌이가정의 돌봄 부담 경감을 지원할 예정이다.

아울러 수요에 따라 돌봄교실 운영시간을 저녁 8시까지 단계적으로 확대·운영하며, 노후 돌봄교실 환경개선, 학생 친화적인 돌봄공간 마련, 방과후연계형 돌봄교실 확충을 지원할 방침이다.
