【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경상북도의 농업과 농촌자원을 기존의 돌봄과 연계하는 경북형 늘봄학교 프로그램이 시범 운영에 들어가면서 지역 사회의 관심을 모으고 있다.

경상북도농업기술원은 지난 9월부터 오는 11월까지 영천시 동부초등학교 2학년 학생을 대상으로 총 9회에 걸쳐 농업 이해와 늘봄학교 프로그램 확산을 목적으로 하는‘경북형 늘봄학교 연계 농업·농촌 프로그램’ 시범운영에 들어간다고 밝혔다.

기존의 방과 후 교실과 돌봄을 단순히 통합하는 방식에서 각 지역의 특성을 접목, 정규수업 외 학교와 지역사회의 다양한 교육자원을 연계한다면 학생의 성장과 발달에 더욱 창의적이고 지역에 대한 애향심은 물론 개인 함양에 상당한 영향을 줄 것으로 기대된다. 

이를 위해 경상북도농업기술원은 교육부 늘봄학교 영역(창의과학, 사회정서, 문화예술, 기후변화)과 경북의 농업·농촌자원을 결합한 4종의 프로그램을 개발하고 있다. 

이번 시범운영은 그 가운데 ‘창의과학’영역의 프로그램으로, 식물이 자라는 환경과 구조를 살펴보고 직접 씨앗을 파종하는 등 실제 농업 활동에 대한 이론과 실습을 통해 학습 효과와 창의력을 높이고 농업에 대한 이해도를 높이는 데 중점을 둔 것으로 알려지공 있다.

시범운영 강사로 참여하는 영천‘별빛농부’농장은 주 작목인 복숭아를 활용한 다양한 체험과 교육프로그램을 운영해 온 전문 강사로, 도내 교직원 대상 특수분야 직무연수(농촌체험·교육) 경험도 보유하고 있다.

또한, 경북형 늘봄 프로그램 외에도 농촌교육농장과 학교 간 매칭을 통한 늘봄학교 운영도 지속 확대되고 있다. 지난 1학기에는 3개 농장이 참여했고 2학기에는 누적 6개 농장이 농장별 특색 있는 자원과 늘봄학교 영역을 결합한 프로그램을 제공하고 있다.

경상북도농업기술원은 지난 2월 17일 경상북도교육청, 대구교육대학교와‘농촌교육농장 연계 늘봄학교 프로그램 활성화를 위한 업무협약’을 체결한 바 있다. 경북도는 이를 통해 농업·농촌 분야의 늘봄학교 보급을 확대하고 학교-교육농장 간 연계성을 더욱 강화해 나간다는 계획이다. 

조영숙 경상북도농업기술원장은“도내 농촌교육농장이 보유한 농업·농촌 자원은 학생들의 창의력과 인성 함양에 밑거름이 될 수 있는 소중한 자원”이라며“학교로 찾아가는 늘봄 프로그램을 통해 농업·농촌의 가치를 알리고, 나아가 학생들이 농업 현장에서 직접 체험하고 배우는 기회를 지속적으로 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

The Gyeongbuk-style Neulbom School program, which links Gyeongsangbuk-do's agricultural and rural resources with existing childcare programs, is attracting attention from the local community as it enters pilot operation.

The Gyeongsangbuk-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services (GARRS) announced that it will begin piloting the "GARRS Neulbom School-Linked Agricultural and Rural Program" for second-grade students at Dongbu Elementary School in Yeongcheon City from September to November. The program will be conducted nine times. This program aims to promote agricultural understanding and expand the Neulbom School program.

By integrating the unique characteristics of each region and linking diverse educational resources from schools and the local community beyond regular classes, students' growth and development will be more creative, fostering a sense of local pride and personal development.

To this end, the GARRS is developing four programs that combine the Ministry of Education's Neulbom School areas (creative science, social and emotional development, culture and arts, and climate change) with Gyeongbuk's agricultural and rural resources.

This pilot program, a "creative science" program, focuses on enhancing learning effectiveness and creativity through theoretical and practical application of real-world agricultural practices, such as observing the growing environment and structure of plants and sowing seeds. It is known to enhance students' understanding of agriculture.

Yeongcheon "Starlight Farmer" Farm, participating as a pilot program instructor, is a professional instructor with extensive experience and educational programs utilizing their main crop, peaches. He also has experience providing specialized job training (rural experience and education) for teachers and staff in the province.

Furthermore, in addition to the Gyeongbuk-style Neulbom program, Neulbom Schools, which are matched with rural education farms and schools, are continuously expanding. Three farms participated in the first semester, and a total of six farms are participating in the second semester, offering programs that combine their unique resources with Neulbom Schools.

On February 17th, the Gyeongsangbuk-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services signed a business agreement with the Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education and Daegu National University of Education to promote the "Neulbom School Program in Linkage with Rural Education Farms." Through this agreement, Gyeongsangbuk-do plans to expand the reach of Neulbom Schools in agriculture and rural areas and further strengthen the connection between schools and educational farms.

Cho Young-sook, Director of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services, stated, "The agricultural and rural resources held by rural education farms in the province are invaluable resources that can serve as a foundation for fostering students' creativity and character. Through the Neulbom program, which visits schools, we will promote the value of agriculture and rural areas and continue to expand opportunities for students to experience and learn directly in agricultural settings."
