군위군에 따르면 이날 김진열 군위군수, 박수현 군의회의장, 이정욱신부, 군의원, 간부 공무원 등이 참석하여 헌화와 묵념을 하였고 추기경의 생애를 다시 되짚어보는 시간을가지며 고인을 추모하고 안식을 기원했다.

김수환 추기경은 8남매 중 막내로 대구 외가에서 태어나,군위보통학교를 졸업하고 현재 대구가톨릭대전신인 성 유스티노신학교에 입학할 때까지 어린 시절을 군위에서 보냈다.

한편, 군위군은 지난 2018년에 김수환 추기경의 생전 철학인 사랑과 나눔 정신을 계승하고 확산시킬 수 있는 문화공간을 마련하기 위해 김수환 추기경의 생가 일대에 ‘김수환 추기경 사랑과 나눔공원’을 조성했다.

김진열 군수는 “한국 가톨릭을 대표하는 인물이자 정신적 지주 역할을 해오신 김수환 추기경의 사랑과 나눔 정신을 항상 잊지 말고 생활 속에서도실천하기를 바란다”고 말했다.
