【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=대구지방고용노동청(청장 김규석)은 최근 사망사고가 잇달아 발생한 경북 봉화군 소재 ㈜영풍 석포제련소를 대상으로 5월 27일부터 산업안전 감독을 실시한다고 24일 밝혔다.

고용노동청에 따르면 ㈜영풍 석포제련소는 지난 2023년 12월 6일 모터교체 작업 중 아르신 급성중독으로 근로자 1명 사망하고 3명이 부상한 데 이어, 올해 3월 8일 냉각탑 내부 석고 제거작업 중 석고에 맞아 근로자 1명이 사망하는 중대재해가 발생했다.

이에 대구고용노동청은올해 3월 발생한 사망사고 직후, ㈜영풍 석포제련소에서간담회를 열고 재발방지 및 근원적 안전확보를위한 방안을 마련하여 시행(안전관리 조직·인력 보강, 안전보건 예산 추가 운용, 관리감독자 역할 수행 강화 등)하도록 하였고, 안전보건관리 이행상황을 주기적으로 관리·지도해 왔다.

이에 더해 이번 감독은 5일 이상, 20명 이상 근로감독관 및 안전보건공단전문가를 투입하여 실시할 예정으로, 사업장 전반의 유해·위험요인별 안전보건조치 여부, 안전보건관리체계 등을 중점적으로 확인할 계획이다.

특히 지난해부터 대구고용노동청에서 중점적으로 추진하고 있는 ‘관리감독자 중심의 안전보건관리’ 실천 여부를 면밀히 확인하고 주요 미비사항에대해서는 개선방향을 제시하여 관리감독자 중심의 안전보건관리가 현장에서실질적으로 이루어져 재해를 예방할 수 있도록 할 계획이다.

김규석 대구고용노동청장은 “산재 사망사고 예방의 핵심은 현장의 관리감독자가 위험작업의 필수 안전조치 이행 여부를 확인 후 종사자들이 작업을 할 수 있도록 하는 것.”이라며,

“이번 감독을 계기로 관리감독자중심의 안전보건관리가 작업 현장에서 제대로 이루어질 수 있도록하여 ㈜영풍 석포제련소에서 더 이상 사망하는 사고가 발생하지 않도록 하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
