【브레이크뉴스 경산】이성현 기자=경산시(시장 조현일)는 지난 2일 경북테크노파크 국제회의실에서 전문가 패널과관계기관이 참석한 가운데 대구연구개발특구 지정 변경에 따른 의견 수렴을 위해 공청회를 개최했다고 3일 밝혔다.

시에 따르면 이날 공청회에서는 대구연구개발특구 사업 설명, 지정 변경 추진 경과 보고, 특구 변경 및 육성 계획안 발표, 분야별 전문가 토론 및 건의, 질의·답변 순으로 진행됐다.

1973년 대덕연구단지로 시작한 연구개발특구는 연구개발을 통한 신기술창출 및 연구개발 성과의 확산과 사업화 촉진을 목적으로 대덕·대구·광주·부산·전북에 분포한 5대 대형 연구개발특구와 14개의 거점별 강소특구로 구성되어 있다.

대구연구개발특구는 2011년에 경산시와 대구시 일부 지역에 공동으로 지정되어 지역의 연구개발 역량 강화를 통한 지식기반산업 서비스를 육성하고 있으며, 특히 4대 특화분야인 스마트 IT, 의료기기·소재, 그린에너지, 메카트로닉스 융복합 산업을 발전시키고 있다.

경산시는 지정 후 13년이 경과하면서 산업 및 정책 환경의 변화를 반영한공간 구조 개편의 필요성과 미래 신산업 육성 및 산학연 협력 강화를 위해 지정 변경을 추진하고 있으며, 공청회 이후 과학기술정보통신부에 지정 변경 신청서를 제출해 올해 안에 지정 변경을 목표로 하고 있다.

이번 지정 변경안에는 기존 지식서비스 R&D Ⅰ·Ⅱ지구 3,223천㎡(97만평)에 신규로 임당유니콘파크, 영남대학교, 대구가톨릭대학교, 대구대학교, 경산지식산업지구 내 산학융합지구 등 총 1,113㎡(337천평)를 추가지정하고, 기존 특구 지역 내 미개발지 759㎡(230천평)를 해제하는 내용이담겨 있어, 변경 후에는 기존 면적에서 608천㎡(183천평)이 증가한 3,831㎡(1,158천평)으로 바뀔 것으로 예상된다.

경산시 관계자는 “공청회에서 주신 의견들을 잘 반영하여 특구 지정 변경을 잘 마무리하고, 아울러 창업 및 비즈니스 공간을 확장하고 새로운성장 동력 거점을 마련할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.

This designation change plan includes the addition of a total of 1,113㎡ (337,000 pyeong) to the existing Knowledge Service R&D Zones I and II, including Imdang Unicorn Park, Yeungnam University, Daegu Catholic University, Daegu University, and the Gyeongsan Knowledge Industry Zone Industry-Academic Convergence Zone, and the release of 759㎡ (230,000 pyeong) of undeveloped land within the existing special zone area. As a result, it is expected that the area will increase by 608,000㎡ (183,000 pyeong) from the existing area to 3,831㎡ (1,158,000 pyeong).

A Gyeongsan City official said, “We will do our best to reflect the opinions received at the public hearing and successfully complete the special zone designation change, while also expanding the startup and business space and establishing a new growth engine base.”
