【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=대구교통공사는 7월부터 신서혁신도시 내 수요응답형 교통(DRT) 운행체계를 개선해 보다 유연하고 탄력적인 교통 서비스를 제공한다고 밝혔다. 

이번 개선은 의료 R&D지구와 첨단의료복합단지를 중심으로 정류장 추가 및 운행 시간 조정을 골자로 한다.

공사는 7월 1일부터 동부소방서 신청사 이전에 발맞춰 ‘대구동부소방서’ 정류장을 신설해 운영 중이다. 연간 약 4만 명에 이르는 방문 수요를 고려한 조치로, 민원인과 소방서 직원의 이동 편의성을 높이고, 인근 기관과의 접근성 향상에도 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

또한 7월 14일부터는 첨단의료복합단지 노선의 혼잡 시간 개선을 위해 도시철도 2호선 연호역 출발시각을 기존보다 10분 앞당긴다. 출근 시간대 병무청 등 인근 직장으로 이동하는 시민들의 지연 문제를 해소하려는 조치로, 공사는 시행에 앞서 충분한 사전 안내와 홍보를 추진할 방침이다.

대구 DRT는 2023년 시범 운행을 시작으로 현재 동구와 북구 등 9개 권역에서 운영 중이다. 평일에는 의료·연구단지와 출퇴근 수요를 반영한 ‘통근특화형 DRT’, 서대구역과 죽전역, 서부정류장을 잇는 ‘자율주행형 DRT’, 주말에는 팔공산·미술관·수성못 등 주요 관광지를 연결하는 **‘문화활동형 DRT’**까지 다양한 교통 수요를 반영해 운영되고 있다.

이러한 노력을 통해 올해 6월 말 기준 DRT 누적 이용자는 19만 명을 돌파, 지속적인 증가세를 보이고 있다.
