대구지방고용노동청과 산하 5개 지청(대구서부·포항·구미·영주·안동)은 대학가 편의점·카페 등 청년 아르바이트생이 많이 근무하는 299개 사업장을 대상으로 최저임금 위반 및 임금체불 여부를 집중 점검했다. 이 중 74개소는 집단 컨설팅을 실시했으며, 나머지 225개소는 현장점검을 진행했다.
점검 결과, 대구의 한 편의점은 시급 8,500원으로 최저임금에 못 미치는 임금을 지급하고 주휴수당도 주지 않아 약 900만 원을 체불한 것으로 드러났다. 경북의 한 카페 역시 연차유급휴가 미사용수당을 지급하지 않아 200만 원가량의 체불이 확인되는 등, 총 75개 사업장에서 3,100만 원의 임금 체불과 최저임금 위반 사례가 적발됐다.
권병희 청장은 “이번 예방점검을 통해 지역 청년들의 노동권익 보호에 도움이 되길 바란다”며 “앞으로도 임금체불 근절과 청년 노동환경 개선을 위해 지방정부와 협력을 강화하겠다”고 말했다.

A total of 75 businesses were found to have unpaid wages totaling 31 million won and minimum wage violations.
