연안해역 안전사고 위험예보는 기상 상황과 연안 사고 발생 가능성을 종합 분석해 ▲관심 ▲주의보 ▲경보 등 3단계로 위험 수준을 알리는 제도로, ‘주의보’ 단계는 안전사고 발생 가능성이 높아 각별한 주의가 요구되는 상황이다.
기상청에 따르면 24일 오전부터 경북 남부 앞바다에는 순간풍속 초속 8~14m에 이르는 강한 바람과 함께 1.5~3.0m의 높은 물결이 예상돼 해양 사고 위험이 커질 것으로 전망된다.
이에 따라 포항해경은 위험예보 발령 기간 동안 갯바위·방파제 낚시 행위와 해양레저기구 운항 및 출항을 금지하고, 해안가 산책 등 연안 출입을 자제해 줄 것을 당부했다. 불가피하게 활동할 경우에는 구명조끼 등 안전장비를 반드시 착용하고, 기상특보 및 현장 통제 안내를 철저히 준수해야 한다고 강조했다.
포항해경은 또한 위험예보제 발령에 맞춰 24시간 연안해역 위험구간 순찰을 강화하고, 관계기관과의 긴밀한 협조를 통해 긴급 상황에 대비한 즉응태세를 유지할 방침이다. 아울러 파출소 전광판과 지자체 재난안전문자 등을 활용해 연안 안전사고 예방을 위한 홍보활동도 병행할 계획이다.
이근안 포항해양경찰서장은 “풍랑주의보와 함께 높은 너울성 파도가 예보된 만큼 주말 연안해역을 찾는 국민들은 기상 정보를 수시로 확인하고, 기상 악화 시 갯바위·방파제·테트라포드 등 위험 지역 접근을 삼가 달라”고 당부했다.
