김성종 청장은 6일과 7일 양일간 경주 보문호수, 월성원자력본부, 포항 영일만항 등을 차례로 방문해 시설 방호대책과 해양경찰의 경호대책 등 전반적인 준비 상황을 면밀히 점검했다.

김 청장은 “APEC 정상회의의 성공적인 개최를 위해 해양경찰의 역량을 집중하고, 경호안전 임무를 완벽하게 수행하겠다”고 밝혔다.

한편 해양경찰청은 이번 정상회의의 원활한 진행을 위해 본청에 ‘APEC 경호안전 기획단’을, 동해지방해양경찰청에는 ‘APEC 경호안전 지원단’을 각각 설치해 운영 중이다.
