이어 오후 3시 55분경, 북구 칠포항 인근 펜션 앞 해상에서 익수자가 발생했다는 신고가 접수됐다. 현장에 출동한 포항해경 영일만파출소와 119 구조대는 의식은 없지만 호흡이 있는 80대 남성 C씨를 신속히 구조했다. C씨는 응급처치를 통해 의식을 되찾은 뒤 병원으로 이송돼 회복 중인 것으로 전해졌다.
