【브레이크뉴스 대구】진예솔 기자=전국시도교육감협의회(회장 조희연, 이하 협의회)가 최근 정부의 지방교육재정교부금 개편을 추진하는 것에 대해 우려를 표명하며 반대의 입장을 밝혔다.
전국시도교육감협의회는 지난 6일 전국시도교육감협의회는 울산광역시교육청(노옥희 교육감) 주관으로 울산 호텔현대 바이 라한에서 간담회를 개최했다고 밝혔다.
전국시도교육감협의회에 따르면 이날 간담회에서는 17개 시・도교육감과 교육부 지방교육자치팀, 각 시・도교육청과 울산광역시교육청 관계자들이 참석한 가운데 지방교육재정교부금 개편에 대한 성명서 발표와 지방교육재정 TF팀 운영 및 개편 대응 실천계획 수립・추진 방향에 대한 논의가 진행됐다.
이들은 “최근 정부가 일시적인 지방교육재정교부금의 증가를 이유로 열악한 유・초・중등교육 환경의 질적 전환의 필요성을 외면하는 사태에 대하여 심각한 우려를 표명하며 반대의 입장을 분명히 하고자 한다.”고 밝히며 “정부의 이같은 조치는 교육적 근거가 매우 부족한 근시안적 접근”이라고 비판했다.
이들은 “지방교육재정교부금을 축소하려는 모든 움직임에 단호히 반대하며 지방교육재정교부금의 축소에 대응하기 위한 반대운동 일환으로 학부모, 시민 등이 추진하는 범국민 서명운동에 적극 참여할 것”이라는 계획을 전했다.
또한 “국회와 정부, 정당 등이 시도교육청과 충분히 소통해 주기를 촉구하며 이를 위해 국회 방문, 대정부 설득 등 적극적인 활동을 전개할 것”이라면서 “지방교육재정교부금 축소 반대 공동대책위원회를 시민단체와 교육관련 단체, 이해당사자들과 함께 구성하여 강력히 대응하겠다.”고 강조했다.
아울러 전국시도교육감협의회는 미래교육 준비를 위한 AI・디지털 기반 교육환경 조성, 전면 무상교육 실현, 학생들의 학습격차 및 정서 결핍 대응을 위한 예산 확보, 안전하고 쾌적한 교육환경 마련 등을 촉구했다.
