협의회는 “이대로라면 AI 교육, 디지털 전환, 지역 맞춤형 교육 등 미래교육을 위한 필수 과제는 물론 기존 교육사업조차 축소하거나 중단할 수밖에 없다”며 “학생 학습권과 교육의 질 저하가 심각하게 우려된다”고 말했다.

이어 “고등·평생교육지원특별회계 연장과 담배소비세분 지방교육세 일몰이 동시에 이뤄질 경우 지방교육재정은 사실상 회복이 어려운 수준으로 축소될 것”이라며, 정부와 국회를 향해 지방교육재정 안정성을 확보하고, 예측 가능한 재원 마련 대책 수립을 거듭 촉구했다.

강은희 회장은 “교육 현장은 이미 한계 상황”이라며 “지방교육재정이 안정적으로 확보되지 않으면 학생의 학습권 보장과 교육의 질 유지는 불가능하다”고 강조했다.
