김병욱 의원이 제출받은 교육부 자료에 따르면, 최근 2년간 ‘그린스마트 미래학교’ 사업 대상으로 지정된 학교 중 ‘학교시설복합화’를 추진 중인 학교는 전체의 1%에 불과한 것으로 드러났다.
경상북도의 경우, 포항 연일초·동해초·구룡포초·양학중을 비롯한 6개 학교에서만 ‘학교시설복합화’ 사업이 진행 중이다.
김병욱 의원은 “학교시설복합화는 학생에게 양질의 교육환경을 제공하면서 지역사회 활성화에도 기여하는 사업”이라며, “세월호 참사를 계기로 시작된 초등학교 생존수영의 실기 수업이 제대로 이뤄지도록 ‘학교수영장’을 반드시 포함한 복합화가 추진되어야 한다”며 “경북교육청도 서울·경남 등 타 교육청처럼 ‘그린스마트 미래학교’ 및 ‘학교시설복합화’ 사업을 전담하는 추진단을 신설할 필요가 있다”고 말했다.
