【브레이크뉴스 포항】박영재 기자=김병욱 의원(포항시남구울릉군)은 교육부 지역혁신중심대학 대학지원 체계(RISE, Regional Innovation System & Education) 시범지역 공모사업 지역으로 경상북도가 최종 선정됐다고 8일 밝혔다.

교육부의 지역혁신중심대학 대학지원 체계(RISE) 사업은 지방자치단체가 주도적으로 지역발전과 연계하여 지역대학에 투자할 수 있도록, 지자체의 고등교육지원 권한을 확대하는 새로운 지원체계이다.

경상북도는 과(課) 단위 조직에서 고등교육 혁신, 산학협력, 청년 정책을 아우르는 국(局) 단위 조직을 통해 지역대학 중심의 지방 성장을 추진할 예정이다.

김병욱 의원은 “지역이 주도하는 대학지원이라는 새로운 패러다임을 추진하는 데 경상북도가 앞장설 것”이라며, “RISE 사업을 통한 혁신적인 교육으로 인재를 양성하고 대학과 도시가 함께 성장하는 상생의 지역발전이 이뤄지길 기대한다”고 전했다.
