‘한일문화카라반’은 한일 양국의 지방자치단체 간의 문화행사를 통해 양국의 친선과 공동 발전을 도모하기 위한 행사로 주일본대한민국대사관과 주히로시마대한민국총영사관의 제안으로 추진하게 됐다.
행사에서 대구시는 대금산조, 소고춤(권명화류), 사물판굿, 3가지 전통문화예술 공연을 선보였으며, 히로시마를 비롯한 일본인 대구 관광객 유치를 위해 관광홍보부스를 운영했다.
김종한 행정부시장, 이창환 대구예총(대구예술문화단체총연합회) 회장 등은 코로나19 팬데믹으로 끊어졌던 양 도시 간 대면 교류의 시작을 알리고 향후 관계 발전을 위해 의견교환을 했다.
김종한 대구시 행정부시장은 “히로시마시와의 자매결연 25주년을 기념하는 행사라는 점, 2020년 초 코로나19 확산 이후 해외 자매·우호협력도시와의 첫 공식 국제교류행사라는 점에서 그 의미가 깊다”며, “히로시마시민들이 대구의 우수한 문화예술을 오랜만에 직접 접하고 대구관광에도 흥미를 가질 수 있는 좋은 기회가 됐길 바란다”고 밝혔다.
