【브레이크뉴스 대구】박은정 기자=대구 수성구(구청장 김대권)는 지난 6일부터 9일까지 대표단을 꾸려 일본 구마모토를 방문했다고 13일 밝혔다.
김대권 수성구청장을 비롯한 대표단 6명은 구마모토현 청사를 비롯해 구마모토국제학교(KIS), 구마몬스퀘어, 구마모토현립미술관, 전통공예관 등을 방문했다.
수성구는 구마모토현과 캐릭터를 활용한 지역경제 활성화, 예술적 건축을 통한 도시 차별화 전략, 국제학교, 청소년 캠프에 대해 향후 상호 협력방안을 모색하기로 합의했다.
구마모토는 구마몬이라는 캐릭터를 활용해 인터넷 직구 등 디지털 경제로 침체된 골목경제에 반전을 시도해 성공적이라는 평가를 받고 있다.
향후 수성구는 지역화폐와 두꺼비 캐릭터를 연계해 새로운 골목경제 생태계를 구축하는 전기를 마련할 계획이다.
김대권 수성구청장은 “내년 수성구 건축비엔날레 개최를 앞두고 구마모토의 건축프로젝트인 아트폴리스 사업과 상호 협력해 갈 것”이라고 밝혔다.
