【브레이크뉴스 대구 】이성현 기자= 글로컬대학 대구보건대학교(총장 남성희)가 ‘2025 WURI(The World University Rankings for Innovation) 세계혁신대학 랭킹’에서 종합 순위 216위, 국내 전체 전문대학 중 2위(예술계열 제외 기준 전국 1위)를 기록한 사실이 확인됐다.

대학 관계자는 “실용 중심 고등직업교육의 글로벌 혁신 역량을 다시 한번 입증한 사례”라며 “단순한 수치 이상의 의미다. 대구보건대학교가 실제 현장에서 작동하는 혁신적 교육 모델을 구축하고 있음을 입증한 것”이라거 거듭 강조했다.

WURI는 기존 대학 평가가 중시하던 논문 수와 피인용 지표 대신, ▲창의성(Creativity) ▲적용 가능성(Applicability) ▲사회적 기여도(Efficiency)를 중심으로 실제 사회에 미치는 영향력과 혁신성을 측정하는 세계 대학 랭킹이다. 올해 평가에는 전 세계 400여 개 대학이 참여했으며, 총 16개 부문에서 혁신성과를 비교했다.

대구보건대학교에 따르면 ▲ESG Trend 부문 21위 ▲Student Mobility and Openness(국제개방성) 부문 43위 ▲Funding for Sustainability(지속가능한 재정운영) 부문 44위를 차지하며 TOP 100위권에 선정된 것으로 파악됐다. 

이러한 성과는 대구보건대학교가 교육부 ‘글로컬대학30’ 선정 이후 추진해온 실천적 혁신 전략과 맞닿아 있다는 게 대학의 입장이다, 보건대학교는 지역 의료·헬스케어 산업과 연계한 주문식 교육과정 운영, 전문기술석사과정 신설, 외국인 유학생 확대, 다문화 융합교육 활성화 등으로 교육 혁신을 추진해왔다. 여기에 탄소중립 캠퍼스 조성, RISE 및 HiVE 사업을 통한 일자리 창출 등 지속가능성 중심의 경영 전략이 더해지며 국제적 신뢰를 끌어낸 것으로 분석된다.

공개된 WURI 점수 분석에 따르면, 혁신적인 부분에서 다수의 국내외 4년제 대학을 앞서는 경쟁력을 드러냈다. 이는 수치를 넘어, 현장 중심의 혁신 교육 모델이 세계에서도 통용될 수 있음을 방증한다.

대구보건대학교는 글로컬 혁신대학으로서의 위상을 강화하기 위해 헬스케어스쿨, 헬스테크스쿨, 재활치료스쿨, 보건융합학부 등으로 교육 체계를 특성화하고 있다고 밝혔다. 대학 관계자는 “이를 기반으로 △캠퍼스 간 연계 학사제도 및 교육과정 표준화 △러닝센터 및 전공 특화센터 운영 △글로컬대학30과 RISE 사업과의 연계 등을 통해 글로벌 혁신대학으로서의 역할을 수행하고 있다”고 밝혔다. 

남성희 총장은 “이번 성과는 우리 대학이 실천해온 지역기반 글로벌 혁신 전략의 성과이자, 대한민국 고등직업교육의 세계적 위상을 보여주는 지표”라며 “앞으로도 대구보건대학교는 교육과 산업, 지역과 세계를 연결하는 진정한 글로컬 혁신대학으로 거듭나겠다”고 밝혔다.

WURI is a world university ranking that measures the influence and innovation on society by focusing on ▲Creativity ▲Applicability ▲Social Contribution (Efficiency) instead of the number of papers and citations that were emphasized in existing university evaluations. About 400 universities around the world participated in this year’s evaluation, and innovation performance was compared in a total of 16 categories.

According to Daegu Health College, it was ranked 21st in the ESG Trend category, 43rd in the Student Mobility and Openness category, and 44th in the Funding for Sustainability category, making it one of the top 100.

The university believes that these achievements are in line with the practical innovation strategy that Daegu Health College has been pursuing since being selected as one of the Ministry of Education’s ‘Global University 30’. Health College has been pursuing educational innovation by operating customized educational courses linked to the local medical and healthcare industries, establishing specialized technical master’s programs, expanding international students, and activating multicultural convergence education. In addition, it is analyzed that the sustainability-centered management strategy, such as creating a carbon-neutral campus and creating jobs through RISE and HiVE projects, has attracted international trust.

According to the published WURI score analysis, it showed competitiveness that surpassed many domestic and foreign 4-year universities in the innovative sector. This goes beyond the numbers and proves that the field-centered innovative education model can be applied globally.

Daegu Health College announced that it is specializing its education system into the Healthcare School, Health Tech School, Rehabilitation Therapy School, and Health Convergence Department in order to strengthen its status as a global innovation university. A university official said, “Based on this, we are performing our role as a global innovation university through ▲ standardization of inter-campus linked bachelor’s degree system and curriculum ▲ operation of learning centers and specialized major centers ▲ linkage with the Global University 30 and RISE projects.”

President Nam Sung-hee said, “This achievement is the result of the regional-based global innovation strategy that our university has been practicing, and an indicator of the global status of higher vocational education in Korea.” He added, “Daegu Health College will continue to grow into a true global innovation university that connects education and industry, regions and the world.”
