경북도당 이동민 대변인은 28일 발표한 성명에서 “AI 디지털 교과서는 미래 교육의 핵심 요소임에도 불구하고, 경상북도교육청이 학교 현장의 활용 현황조차 제대로 관리하지 않고 있다”며 문제를 제기했다.

경북도당에 따르면, 이 당은 최근 경상북도교육청을 상대로 △AI 디지털 교과서 채택 학교명 △학교 유형 △도입 교과목 △발행사 등을 포함한 관련 정보를 정보공개 청구했다. 그러나 교육청은 “계약이 이루어지지 않아 보유·관리하지 않는 정보”라는 사유로 정보를 제공하지 않았다.

이에 대해 이동민 대변인은 “전국적으로 AI 디지털 교과서를 사용하는 학교가 1만2천 곳이 넘는데, 경북에서는 어떤 학교가 어떤 교과서를 사용하는지조차 파악하지 못한다는 것은 사실상 정책 집행 의지가 없다는 의미”라며 “이는 교육 행정의 기본 기능이 작동하고 있지 않음을 스스로 인정한 것이나 다름없다”고 비판했다.

그는 특히 AI 디지털 교과서가 단순한 기술 도입이 아니라 교육권과 예산 사용의 투명성과 직결된 사안이라는 점을 강조했다. 이동민 대변인은 “막대한 예산이 투입되고 학생들의 학습권에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 정책임에도 불구하고, 교육청이 형식적인 답변으로 책임을 회피하고 있다”며 “이는 도민의 알 권리를 침해하고 정책 집행의 정당성에 의문을 키우는 행위”라고 지적했다.

또한 정부 차원의 AI 디지털 교과서 추진이 정치권과 교육계에서 논란이 지속되는 가운데, 국회는 보조 교재 수준으로 제도를 제한했음에도 일부 지자체가 무리하게 적용을 확대하고 있다는 점도 문제로 제기했다.

경북도당은 △AI 디지털 교과서 도입 현황 전면 공개 △책임자 조사 및 문책 △정책 운영 구조 개선을 요구하며, 교육청에 “투명하고 책임 있는 행정 체계를 즉각 마련하라”고 촉구했다.

The Gyeongbuk Provincial Party demanded the following: △ Full disclosure of the status of the introduction of AI digital textbooks; △ Investigation and accountability of those responsible; △ Improvement of the policy operation structure; and urged the Office of Education to “immediately establish a transparent and responsible administrative system.”
