【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경상북도의회(의장 박성만)는 9일 경주 힐튼호텔에서 열린 2025 NEAR(동북아지방정부연합) 국제포럼에참가해 각국 동북아 지방의회간 교류와 협력방안에 대해 논의했다고 밝혔다.

이번 포럼은 한국·중국·일본·몽골·러시아·카자흐스탄 등 6개국, NEAR 소속 21개 지방의회 및 지방정부 대표, 외교단 등 약 100명이 참석한 가운데열렸다.

지방의회의 역할이 커지고 있는 상황에서 올해 처음으로 지방의회 세션을마련하여 6개국 10개 의회에서 각국 의회소개와 정책홍보 및 향후 교류 협력사업에 대한 제안사항을 발표하여 동북아 지방의회간 실질적인 토대를 구축하였다. 우리 도의회에서는 최병준 부의장이 경상북도의회의 구성과 역할을 발표하고 경북도의 관광, 외교, 문화 특히 APEC 성공사례 등을 소개했다.

또한중국, 몽골, 러시아와의 1:1 교류 세션을 통해 경상북도의회와교류의향 체결한 의회뿐만 아니라 다른 의회와도 다양한 분야의 국제교류를 지속적으로 확대하고 집행부와 진행하고 있는 사업에도 적극 지원하기로 했다.

박성만경상북도의회 의장은 “급변하는 세계 정세 속에서 지역이 중심이되어 국제협력의 중요성이 커지고 있는 이때 오늘 포럼을 통해 상생발전의 방향을 모색하는 뜻깊은 자리가 되길 바라며 올해 처음으로 개최된 지방의회 간 양자교류를 통하여 지속적인 교류 및 협력사업 발굴로 새로운 지평을열어 나가는데 앞장서겠다” 고 말했다.

Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Council Discusses Cooperation with Northeast Asian Local Councils

The Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Council (Chairman Park Seong-man) announced on the 9th that it participated in the 2025 NEAR (Northeast Asia Local Government Association) International Forum held at the Hilton Hotel in Gyeongju and discussed ways to foster exchange and cooperation among local councils in Northeast Asia.

The forum was attended by approximately 100 participants, including representatives from six countries—South Korea, China, Japan, Mongolia, Russia, and Kazakhstan—and 21 local councils and governments within NEAR, as well as diplomatic corps.

With the growing role of local councils, this year's first local council session was held. Ten councils from six countries introduced their respective councils, promoted their policies, and presented proposals for future exchanges and cooperation projects, establishing a practical foundation for cooperation among local councils in Northeast Asia. Vice-Chairman Choi Byeong-jun presented the composition and role of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Council and shared Gyeongsangbuk-do's success stories in tourism, diplomacy, culture, and especially APEC.

Furthermore, through one-on-one exchange sessions with China, Mongolia, and Russia, the council agreed to continuously expand international exchanges in various fields, not only with the councils that have signed exchange agreements with the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Council, but also with other councils, and to actively support projects currently underway with the executive branch.

Park Seong-man, Chairman of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Council, stated, "In a rapidly changing global environment, where regions are at the center and the importance of international cooperation is growing, I hope that today's forum will serve as a meaningful opportunity to explore directions for mutually beneficial development. Through this year's first bilateral exchange between local councils, we will take the lead in opening new horizons by exploring continued exchanges and cooperative projects."
