영주시가 처한 현안 문제와 관련해서는 경제 문제를 가장 먼저 꼽았다. 박 의장은 “영주의 경제 구조를 큰 틀에서 세밀하게 진단하겠다. 어떤 분야가 약해졌는지, 어떤 산업이 다시 살아나야 하는지를 냉정하게 분석하겠다, 시장이 되면 선택의 과정에서는 과감하게 선택하겠다”고 밝혔다.
