27일 영주시에 따르면 이날 박남서 영주시장은 단산면 행정복지센터 건립공사, 휴천1동 행정복지센터 건립공사, 가흥공원 조성사업 등 8건의 특교세 사업 및 주요 현안 사업들의 필요성을 설명하고, 예산 반영을 위한 임종득 국회의원의 적극적인 지원을 요청했다.

특별교부세는 지방자치단체의 불가피한 사정이나 지방 재정여건의 변동, 예기치 못한 재정수요에 충당하기 위해 편성하는 재원으로 매년 자치단체의 신청에 따라 행정안전부가 심사 후 교부한다.

시는 최근 5년간 58건, 총 239억 원의 특교세를 받아 지역 현안사업과 재난안전사업 등에 사용해 왔다.

임종득 국회의원은 “영주 발전을 위한 국비 및 교부세 확보에 국회의원으로서 막중한 책임감을 느낀다”며, “영주시와 밀접히 소통하며 지역 현안 해결을 위한 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.

박남서 영주시장은 “이번 특별교부세가 영주시의 현안 해결을 위해 꼭 필요한 만큼 국회의원의 적극적인 지원을 부탁드린다”며, “지방재정 여건이 갈수록 어려워져 국비 확보가 절실한 실정인 만큼, 시비 부담을 최소화하고 영주시의 현안사업을 신속히 추진할 수 있도록 국비확보에 전력을 다하겠다”고 강조했다.
