【브레이크뉴스 영주】이성현 기자=영주시는 지난 2일 대한육상경기연맹 공인코스인 영주시가지, 순흥‧단산면 일원에서 개최된 ‘2023영주소백산마라톤대회’가 성황리에 개최됐다고 3일 밝혔다.

2003년 시작돼 올해로 18회째를 맞는 이번 대회는 풀코스 343명, 하프코스 727명, 10km코스 1639명, 5km코스 4832명 등 전국 각지에서 참가한 7541 여 명의 선수들과 가족, 자원봉사자 등 1만여 명이 참여해 성황을 이뤘다.

이날 참가 선수들은 봄의 정취를 만끽하며 소백산의 수려한 자연경관과 소수서원, 선비촌 등 유서 깊은 문화유산 주변을 달리며 마음껏 기량을 펼쳤다.

이날 시 일원은 화창하면서도 포근한 날씨로 만개한 벚꽃과 다양한 봄꽃의 향기를 따라 1만여 명의 참여자들이 뜨거운 열정의 축제를 연출했다.

시는 올해 풀코스·하프코스 완주자를 대상으로 메달 각인 서비스 및 현장에서 화면을 송출해 자신의 마라톤 완주를 기념할 수 있도록 하며 응원객들도 더욱 현장감을 느낄 수 있도록 했다.

또, 이번 대회는 푸짐한 먹을거리로 참가자들의 눈과 입을 즐겁게 했다. 시는 시민운동장 국민체육센터 전면에 특산물 먹거리 장터를 마련해 영주 한우불고기, 한돈 불고기, 잔치국수, 사과 등을 전국의 마라토너들과 관광객들에게 제공했다.

아울러 안전사고에 대비해 행사장 구역별 안전요원을 배치, 마라톤 코스 전면 차량 통제, 주차장 교통관리 등 안전관리에 철저를 기했다.

또, 5km코스 출발 전 진행된 ‘경상북도 안전체험관 영주 유치 퍼포먼스’에도 많은 시민들과 참가자들의 관심과 성원이 이어졌다.

영주시 관계자는 “오늘 전국의 마라토너들이 벚꽃이 만개한 아름다운 소백산과 유서 깊은 문화유산을 따라 마음껏 달렸다”며 “내년에도 건강과 함께 영주의 문화적 특성과 자원을 홍보할 수 있는 대회로 이어갈 수 있도록 준비하겠다”고 밝혔다.
