29일 영주시에 따르면 지난 24일부터 27일까지 충북 보은군 국민체육센터에서 열린 2023년 우슈 국가대표선발전에서 산타 종목 조상훈 선수(-75kg)가 김성현(경주시청) 선수와의 결승전에서 승리하며 아시안게임 티켓을 거머쥐었다.

또, 투로(장권전능) 종목에서는 박근우 선수가 이용현(충남체육회) 선수에 이어 2위를 차지하며 국가대표로 발탁됐다.

국가대표로 선발된 두 선수는 오는 9월 23일부터 중국 항저우에서 개최되는 제19회 항저우 아시안게임에 출전한다.

이로써 영주시는 복싱팀 이상민 선수를 포함해 아시안게임 국가대표 선수를 무려 3명이나 배출하게 됐다.

우슈 안용운 코치는 “그동안 고생한 선수들에게 감사하다”며 “복싱팀과 함께 국가대표를 배출해 자랑스럽고 앞으로도 영주시청 우슈팀의 위상을 높이기 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
