영주시(시장 박남서)는 한국베어링산업협회(협회장 진영환)와 지난 27일 서울 가든호텔에서 ‘제3회 한국베어링컨퍼런스 & 제7회 베어링인의 날’ 행사를 공동 개최했다고 28일 밝혔다.

이날 행사는 한국베어링산업협회장을 맡고 있는 진영환 삼익THK 회장과 산업통상자원부 신용민 과장, 한국트라이볼로지학회 장용훈 학회장을 비롯한 베어링 관련 기업, 연구소, 대학 등 관계자 100여 명이 참석한 가운데 진행됐다.

참석자들은 ‘탄소중립과 베어링산업의 대응전략’을 주제로 베어링의 기술개발과 최신동향에 대해 관련 정보를 교류하고 소통하는 시간을 가졌다. 이날 장관 표창과 협회장 표창이 수여됐으며, 영주시는 베어링산업발전 유공자에 표창과 감사패를 전달했다.

이번 행사에서 영주시는 홍보부스 운영과 김명자 기업지원실장의 ‘영주 첨단베어링 국가산업단지 성공전략’에 대해 발표를 통해 ‘영주 첨단베어링 국가산업단지 및 클러스터 조성사업’을 적극 홍보하며 기업유치 활동에 전력을 다했다.

박남서 영주시장은 “베어링 기술 및 혁신에 대해 논의하고, 새로운 아이디어를 공유하며 베어링산업 발전을 위한 초석을 다지는 시간이었다”며, “우리나라 베어링산업이 ‘기업하기 좋은도시 영주’를 중심으로 지금까지 가보지 않은 새로운 길을 열어 갈 것”이라고 말했다.

한편, 영주 첨단베어링 국가산업단지는 총사업비 2,964억 원을 투입해 적서동과 문수면 일대 118만㎡(약 36만 평) 규모로 조성될 예정이다. 2027년 준공을 목표로 추진 중인 이 사업은, 영주를 베어링산업의 중심지로 자리매김하는 핵심 프로젝트로 주목받고 있다.

Yeongju Mayor Park Nam-seo said, “It was a time to discuss bearing technology and innovation, share new ideas, and lay the foundation for the development of the bearing industry,” and added, “The bearing industry in Korea will open a new path that has never been taken before, centered around ‘Yeongju, a city good for business.’”

Meanwhile, the Yeongju Advanced Bearing National Industrial Complex is scheduled to be developed on a scale of 1.18 million m2 (approximately 360,000 pyeong) in Jeokseo-dong and Munsu-myeon with a total project cost of 296.4 billion won. This project, which is being promoted with the goal of completion in 2027, is attracting attention as a key project that will establish Yeongju as the center of the bearing industry.
