박 의원은 올해 초등학교 6학년 졸업생을 이른바 ‘코로나 세대’로 언급하며 “수학여행 등 또래와 함께하는 활동 기회가 제한돼 추억이 부족한 세대”라며 “특히 소규모 학교의 경우 운동회조차 열기 어려운 실정”이라고 지적했다.

이어 “의성에서는 지난해 작은 학교들이 모여 공동 운동회를 열었고, 타 지역인 단양에서도 재작년에 7개 학교가 함께 운동회를 진행했다”며 포항에서도 소규모 학교들이 공동으로 운동회를 운영할 수 있도록 교육청 차원의 제도적·재정적 지원이 필요하다고 강조했다.

박 의원은 “운동회는 단순한 체험활동이 아니라 아이들이 어울림을 배우는 지역의 작은 축제”라며 “마을과 지역 단체에서도 지원 의지가 있는 만큼 교육청이 지역과 연계한 지원 방안을 마련해 달라”고 요청했다.

이와 함께 경북 지역에 특성화고가 많은 점을 언급하며, “향후 AI 데이터센터 등 다양한 산업시설이 조성될 가능성에 대비해 특성화고 단계에서부터 관련 인력을 선제적으로 양성해야 한다”고 당부했다. 특히 공조 시스템, 전기 분야 등 산업 수요에 맞춘 인력 양성 방향을 제시하며 교육청의 적극적인 대응을 주문했다.

포항 평준화 지역 고입 배정 문제에 대해서도 개선 필요성을 제기했다. 박 의원은 “학급 수를 조정했음에도 불구하고 학생들이 탈락 위기에 놓이는 상황이 발생했다”며 전·후기고 입학 일정 구조 속에서 평준화 배정 수요를 보다 정확히 반영할 수 있도록 입시 시기 조정 등 제도 개선이 필요하다고 말했다.

또한 성적 등의 이유로 원거리 학교에 지원하는 사례가 발생하고 있다는 현장의 목소리를 전하며, 교육청에 정확한 학생 수 추계와 함께 입학 일정 개선, 원거리 배정 학생에 대한 구제 방안 마련도 함께 검토해 달라고 요청했다.
