대구보건대학교는 교육부와 한국교육개발원이 지난해 12월 31일 발표한 ‘2024년 졸업자 취업률’ 통계에서 77.7%를 기록해 대구지역 전문대학 중 1위에 올랐다. 이는 전국 전문대학교 평균 취업률 72.1%와 대구지역 전문대학 평균 72%보다 각각 5.6%p, 5.7%p 높은 수치다.

특히 전년도 취업률 76.8% 대비 0.9%p 상승하며 꾸준한 상승세를 이어갔다. 최근 3년간 취업률은 2022년 77.7%, 2023년 76.8%, 2024년 77.7%로, 전국 평균 취업률이 전년 대비 0.3%p 하락한 상황에서도 안정적인 고취업 구조를 유지하고 있다는 점에서 주목받고 있다.

대학 측은 이러한 성과의 배경으로 전문성과 체계성을 갖춘 취업지원 조직 운영을 꼽았다. 대구보건대학교는 학생취업지원팀, 학생진로개발팀, 창업교육센터, 국제교류팀 등 4개 전담 부서를 중심으로 재학생의 취업과 창업을 전주기적으로 지원하고 있다.

학생취업지원팀과 창업교육센터는 정부 통계조사 대응과 취·창업 관련 국고 및 지자체 사업, 기본 취업지원 업무를 담당하며, 학생진로개발팀은 입학부터 졸업까지 진로 설계와 심리 지원을 병행한다. 해외취업과 글로벌 인재 양성은 국제교류팀이 전담해 운영하고 있다.

대구보건대학교는 교육부 혁신지원사업과 글로컬대학30, 라이즈(RISE) 사업 등을 기반으로 단계별 취업지원 시스템을 구축했다. 이를 통해 학과 맞춤형 취업 프로그램과 취업경진대회, 집중 취업캠프, 각종 자격증 취득 프로그램을 운영했으며, 연간 취업지원 프로그램 참여 재학생 수는 1만 명을 넘는다.

이와 함께 2,500개 이상의 가족회사를 관리·지원하고, 고용노동부 국민취업지원제도, 중소기업 탐방, 일 경험 프로그램에도 적극 참여하고 있다. 취업전담교수제와 평생지도교수제 운영 역시 학생 개개인에 맞춘 취업 지도의 핵심 요소로 작용하고 있다.

권용현 학생취업처장(보건행정학과 교수)은 “매년 꾸준히 높은 취업률을 유지하고 있다는 점이 대구보건대학교의 가장 큰 경쟁력”이라며 “앞으로도 학생들이 양질의 일자리로 진출할 수 있도록 대학 차원의 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.
