ESG(Environment, Social, Governance) 경영은 기업의 지속가능 경영에 필수적인 요소로 부각되고 있으나 중소기업들은 재정상황·인력부족 등 현실적으로 ESG 경영 도입에 어려움을 겪고 있어 정부, 대기업 및 공공기관 등의 지원이 필요하다.

공단은 고도기술, 케이엔정보기술 등 방폐물사업에 참여하고 있는 4개 중소 협력사를 선정해 ESG 분야별 현황파악, 문제점 분석 및 개선방안 도출 등 ESG 컨설팅을 지원했다.

케이엔정보기술에는 고객요구 대응력 강화, 아이로그에는 창업자 비전을 ESG 경영 전반에 반영한 목표 제시, 소암컨설턴트에는 ESG 대응 신성장 동력 확보 등을 주문했다.

공단은 ESG 관련 국제표준 인증을위한 후속 지원사업도 추진할 예정이며,지원 대상도확대할 계획이다.

한국원자력환경공단 차성수 이사장은 “ESG 경영 트렌드 확산에 따라 우리 중소벤처기업에도 ESG 경영에 대한 요구가 지속적으로 증가하고 있어 방폐물사업에도 ESG 경영이 정착될 수 있도록 지원 활동을 적극적으로 추진할 것”이라고 말했다.

한편 한국원자력환경공단 은 초대 노동이사(비상임이사)에 기금관리센터 이승재차장을 선임했다 산업통상자원부 산하 준정부기관 중 노동이사를 선임한 것은 공단이 처음이다.

노동이사제는 노동자가 이사회에 참석해 주요 안건에 대해 의견을 제시하고 의사 결정 과정에 참여하는 제도다. 공단은 지난 5월부터 노동이사제 도입을 위한노사협의와이사회 의결을 거쳐 내부 규정을 제·개정하고 세부 운영방안을 마련했다.
