올해 심사에서는 1등급 기관이 나오지 않은 가운데, 전체 72개 공공기관 중 20개 기관이 2등급을 획득했다.

공공기관 안전관리등급심사는 기관의 안전관리 역량을 종합 평가해 5단계로 등급을 부여하는 제도로, 공공기관의 안전 취약점을 조기에 발견하고 안전관리 능력 향상을 유도하기 위해 2020년부터 시행되고 있다.

이번 심사는 민간 전문가 37명 등으로 구성된 전문 심사단이 안전역량, 안전수준, 안전성과를 기준으로 서면 및 현장 검증을 병행해 진행했다.

공단이 속한 준정부기관 유형에서는 24개 기관 중 5개 기관이 2등급에 선정됐으며, 한국원자력환경공단은 최고경영자의 안전보건경영 리더십, 체계적인 안전경영계획 수립, 사고 예방 및 감소 성과 등에서 높은 평가를 받았다. 특히 지난해 심사에서 지적된 38건의 개선사항을 모두 완료해 안전문화 개선에 대한 노력과 성과를 입증했다.

조성돈 이사장은 “앞으로도 전사적인 안전마인드 내재화를 통해 안전하고 건강한 일터 조성에 앞장서겠다”고 밝혔다.

 Korea Radioactive Waste Agency Receives Highest Grade ‘Grade 2’ in Public Institution Safety Management Rating Evaluation

Korea Radioactive Waste Agency (Chairman Cho Sung-don) announced on the 25th that it received the highest grade, Grade 2, in the 2024 Public Institution Safety Management Rating Evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. While no institutions received Grade 1 in this year’s evaluation, 20 out of 72 public institutions received Grade 2.

The Public Institution Safety Management Rating Evaluation is a system that comprehensively evaluates an institution’s safety management capabilities and assigns grades in five stages. It has been implemented since 2020 to discover safety vulnerabilities in public institutions early and induce improvement in safety management capabilities.

This evaluation was conducted by a professional evaluation team consisting of 37 private sector experts, using written and on-site verification based on safety capabilities, safety levels, and safety performance.

Among the quasi-governmental organizations to which the corporation belongs, five out of 24 organizations were selected as Grade 2, and the Korea Atomic Energy Environment Agency received high evaluations for the CEO’s safety and health management leadership, establishment of a systematic safety management plan, and accident prevention and reduction performance.

In particular, it completed all 38 improvement items pointed out in last year’s evaluation, proving its efforts and achievements in improving safety culture.

Chairman Cho Seong-don said, “We will continue to take the lead in creating a safe and healthy workplace by internalizing a company-wide safety mindset.”
