【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=한국원자력환경공단(이사장 조성돈)은 2월부터 한국수력원자력 월성원전과 공동으로 방폐장 및 원전지역 주민 2,600명을 대상으로 건강검진 지원 사업을 시행한다.

공단과 월성원전, 경북사회복지공동모금회, 경주시지역사회보장협의체는 11일 월성원전 홍보관에서 동경주 지역 주민 건강검진 사업 추진을 위한 협약을 체결했다.

올해 건강검진 사업에는 총 12억 9천만 원이 투입된다. 검진은 동국대병원과 큰마디큰병원(경주), 울산대병원, 울산시티병원, 동천동강병원(울산), 세명기독병원(포항) 등 6개 병원에서 진행된다.

지원 대상은 감포읍, 양남면, 문무대왕면 등 3개 읍·면에 거주하는 만 45세 이상 주민 가운데 검진 신청일 및 시행일 기준 전년도 건강검진을 받지 않은 주민 2,600명이다.

검진 신청은 1차(2월~6월)와 2차(7월~10월)로 나눠 접수하며, 검진 비용은 공단과 월성원전이 전액 지원한다.

공단은 2014년부터 올해까지 약 3만 명의 지역 주민에게 건강검진을 지원해 왔다. 만족도 조사에서는 응답자의 88.3%가 일반 건강검진보다 만족도가 높다고 답해 사업의 체감 효과가 큰 것으로 나타났다.

조성돈 이사장은 “처분시설 주변 지역 주민들이 보다 많은 건강검진 혜택을 받을 수 있도록 홍보를 강화하겠다”며 “공공기관으로서 지역 발전에 기여할 수 있는 다양한 지원 사업을 지속적으로 발굴·추진하겠다”고 밝혔다.

A total of 1.29 billion won will be invested in this year's health screening program. Screenings will be conducted at six hospitals: Dongguk University Hospital, Keunmadi Hospital (Gyeongju), Ulsan University Hospital, Ulsan City Hospital, Dongcheon Donggang Hospital (Ulsan), and Semyung Christian Hospital (Pohang).

The program is open to 2,600 residents aged 45 and older residing in three towns and townships—Gampo-eup, Yangnam-myeon, and Munmu-daewang-myeon—who, based on the application date and implementation date, did not receive a health checkup in the previous year.

Applications for the program are accepted in two phases: the first (February-June) and the second (July-October). The cost of the checkup is fully covered by the corporation and the Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant.

From 2014 to this year, the corporation has provided health checkups to approximately 30,000 local residents. A satisfaction survey revealed that 88.3% of respondents were more satisfied with the program than with regular health checkups, demonstrating the program's significant impact.

Chairman Cho Seong-don stated, "We will strengthen publicity efforts to ensure that more residents living near disposal facilities can benefit from health checkups. As a public institution, we will continue to identify and promote various support programs that can contribute to local development."
