5일 인권운동연대 등은 성명서를 내고 “차마 입에 담을 수 없는 욕설로 이태원 참사 유가족을 모욕하는 동영상을 개인 SNS에 게시한 이만규 의장은 취재에 나서자 동영상을 삭제했다고 한다”며 “시민을 대표하고 민의를 반영해야 할 책무가 있는 의장으로서 자격 미달이자 유가족을 폄하하고 우롱하는데 동조하는 것”이라고 비판했다.

이어 "영상을 공유하는 것은 2차 가해를 유발할 뿐 아니라, 고인과 유가족, 생존자 등에게 2차 피해로 이어진다. 이만규 의장은 참사 유가족에게 공식 사과하고 대구시의회 의장 사퇴를 촉구한다"고 말했다.

그러면서 “이태원 참사를 대하는 정부의 태도, 고위 공직자들의 책임 회피를 보면서 참을 수 없는 분노를 느낀다"며 “명확하게 이태원 참사의 진상규명과 책임자를 처벌해야 하는 과제에 함께 힘을 모아야 할 때"라고 덧붙였다.
