10일 오전 11시, 정의당 대구시당은 이태원 참사에 대한 국정조사를 촉구하며 범국민서명운동 및 직접행동에 돌입 하는 기자회견을 개최했다.

이날 정의당 한민정 대구시당위원장은 “10월 29일 참사를 보면서 2014년 세월호 참사를 생각하지 않을 수 없다.”며 “진상 규명이 되지 않고 흘러온 시간들, 누구도 제대로 처벌받지 못한 결과가 다시 10월 29일 이태원 참사를 일으켰다.”고 비판의 목소리를 높였다.

이어 한 위원장은 “대통령실 국정감사 자리에서 이태원 참사에 대한 질의가 있는 동안에 ‘웃기고 있네’라고 필담을 나누는 비서들의 행태는 참사를 대하는 윤석열 정부의 인식을 그대로 드러내고 있는 것”이라며 “국정조사를 통해 무능과 무책임을 철저하게 따져 묻겠다.”고 말했다.

정의당 이아현 청년위원장은 “이태원에서 일어난 참사 이후 이 세상이 안전하다는 스스로의 믿음을 깨고 싶지 않아 사고의 책임을 희생자들에게 돌리는 사람들을 많이 마주했다.”면서 “안전한 국가를 만들기 위해서 책임지고 사건을 규명해야 할 사람들이 서로 책임을 피하고 있다.”고 비판을 이어갔다.

그러면서 “청년들이 바라는 것은 간단하다. 일하는 곳이 안전한 것, 편하게 놀러 가도 목숨을 잃을까 봐 걱정하지 않는 나라가 됐으면 좋겠다는 것”이라면서 “정부가, 행정이 이 단순한 이야기를 회피하지 않길 바란다.”고 덧붙였다.

이에 앞서 더불어민주당 대구시당은 이태원 참사의 진상규명 및 책임자 처벌을 위한 국정조사 실시 릴레이 1인 시위에 나섰다. 

더불어민주당 대구시당은 지난 8일 신효철 동구(갑)지역위원장이 선두로 시작하여 강민구 대구시당위원장, 권택흥 달서구(갑)지역위원장, 김성태 달서구(을)지역위원장, 최창희 중구남구지역위원장, 오세광 서구지역위원장 등 순서대로 릴레이 1인 시위를 이어간다고 밝혔다.

민주당 대구시당은 “정부가 정한 국가 애도기간은 끝났지만 정부의 책임은 이제부터 시작”이라면서 “참사 직후부터 일관되게 정부는 책임을 떠넘기고 회피하는 태도이다. 또한 윤 대통령은 참사 10일 만에 공식 사과를 했다. 과연 이러한 행동이 공정과 정의를 위한다는 정부가 할 행동인가?”라며 비판했다.

한편 지난 9일 민주당 강민구 대구시당위원장의 릴레이 시위가 진행 중 길을 지나던 행인이 다가와 욕설을 하고 멱살을 잡는 폭행 사건이 발생해 소란이 일었다.

이에 민주당 대구시당은 “경찰에 신고하여 상황이 종료 되었다.”면서 “가해자가 행한 모욕과 폭행에 엄정한 법적 책임을 묻겠다.”고 밝혔다.
