지난달 18일 대구 수성구청 기간제 산불감시원 채용시험에 지원한 60대 지원자가 체력시험을 끝난 후 숨진 사실이 뒤늦게 알려졌다.

수성구청 등에 따르면 지난달 18일 오후 1시 42분쯤 수성구 고모동 수성패밀리파크 관리사무실 앞에서 기간제 산불감시원 채용에 지원한 A씨가 체력 시험을 종료한 후 5분여 뒤에 쓰러져 병원으로 옮겨졌으나 끝내 사망한 것으로 전해진다.

산불감시원 운영 규정에 따르면 직무수행력 평가는 응시자의 안전사고 예방 등을 위해 3가지 사항을 고려해 실시해야 하지만 수성구청 관계자는 한 언론 인터뷰에서 “운영규정에는 ‘고려해서’라고 되어 있어 의무 사항이 아니다.”라고 밝혀 논란이 되고 있다.

이에 정의당 대구시당은 “공공기관의 심각한 안전불감증을 여실히 보여준 사례”라면서 “예방에 무능했고 대응에는 무책임했다.”고 꼬집었다.

그러면서 “구청 관계자는 의무가 아니라고 했지만 운영규정 조항을 살펴보면 따라야 하는 게 맞다.”고 지적하며 “더구나 해당 조항은 최근 울산, 경북 지역에서 체력시험 지원자 사망이 잇달아 일어나자 추가된 안전조항이라고 하니 수성구청의 안전에 대한 안일함이 그저 놀랍기만 하다.”고 강하게 질타했다.
