대구시의회 이재숙 의원(동구4)은 24일 열린 제321회 정례회에서 산업 전반에 디자인을 융복합할 수 있도록 하는 ‘대구광역시 산업디자인 육성 및 지원 조례안’을 대표 발의했다.
이재숙 의원은 “산업디자인은 단순히 제품의 외형을 꾸미는 수준을 넘어, 제품과 서비스의 가치를 높이는 핵심 요소이자 기술과 사용자 경험을 연결하는 전략적 자산”이라며 “하지만 대구시는 아직까지 산업 전반에 디자인을 융복합할 제도적 장치가 부족해, 전문인력 양성과 산업디자인 연계 지원이 제대로 이뤄지지 못하고 있다”고 조례 제정 배경을 설명했다.
조례안에는 5년 단위 종합계획과 연도별 시행계획 수립, 지역 기업과 디자인회사 지원을 위한 다양한 산업디자인 활성화 사업 추진, 전문인력 발굴·양성 등 전문성 확보와 인재양성 기반 마련, 그리고 산업디자인 정책 심의와 자문을 위한 ‘산업디자인 육성위원회’ 설치 및 운영 등이 담겼다.
이 의원은 “이번 조례 제정을 통해 산업디자인이 지역 기업의 경쟁력을 끌어올리고, 대구시의 산업 생태계도 한 단계 더 성장하는 계기가 될 것으로 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

The ordinance includes the establishment of a five-year comprehensive plan and annual implementation plans, the promotion of various industrial design revitalization projects to support local businesses and design firms, the establishment of a foundation for securing expertise and fostering talent, including the discovery and development of professional talent, and the establishment and operation of an "Industrial Design Promotion Committee" to deliberate and advise on industrial design policies.
Councilmember Lee stated, "I expect that the enactment of this ordinance will serve as an opportunity for industrial design to enhance the competitiveness of local businesses and further develop Daegu's industrial ecosystem."
