연안해역 안전사고 위험예보란 기상특보 또는 자연재난으로 인한 피해 발생이예상될 경우 그 위험성을 3단계인 관심, 주의보, 경보로 구분해 국민에게알리는 것을 말한다.

포항해경은 사고발생 위험성이 높은 연안해역과 항포구를 중심으로 해·육상순찰을 강화하여 다중이용선박 및 장기계류어선의 안전사고에 대비한다.

또 연안해역 안전사고 위험예보제 발령기간 중 파출소 전광판, 지자체 재난안전문자 등을 이용해 안전사고 예방을 위한 적극적인 홍보활동을 실시할 방침이다.

김지한 서장은“연안해역을 운항하는 항행선박 및 조업어선은 기상정보를수시로 확인하고, 특히 해안가는 너울성 파도의 위험이 있으니 안전사고에 유의하시기 바란다.”고 전했다.
