【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경북경찰청(청장 김철문)은최근 5년 동안 경북 22개 시군 1,202개소의어린이보호구역에서 단 한 건의 교통사망사고도 발생하지 않았다고 11일 밝혔다.

경북경찰청에 따르면 도내 어린이보호구역내에서 발생한 교통사고는 2021년 40건에서 2023년17건으로 50% 넘게 감소하였으며, 올해에도 9월 현재까지 보호구역내 교통사고가 10건으로 잠정집계되는 등 경북지역 어린이보호구역내 교통사고도 감소추세에 있는 것으로 분석됐다.

그간 경북경찰청에서는 어린이 교통안전 확보를 위한 다양한 현장교육과시설개선, 보호구역 단속활동을 집중 실시해 왔다.

도내 어린이 교육기관을 총 540회 방문하여 2만여명의 어린이 대상으로 교통안전교육을 펼쳐왔으며, 어린이보호구역 내 주정차위반‧신호위반 등 법규 위반행위, 어린이 통학버스 의무위반 행위 등을 집중 단속해왔다.

김철문 청장은 “도민 여러분께서는 어린이보호구역에서는 ‘아이 먼저’라는인식을 가지고 횡단보도 앞 일단 멈춤을 실천해달라”고 당부하며 “경북경찰은어린이 교통안전을 위해 지속적인 보호구역내 단속과 시설개선, 안전교육을펼치겠다.”고 밝혔다.
