7일 경북경찰청 고속도로순찰대(대장 송윤용)에 따르면 지난 6일 오전 9시경 경남 양산시에서 피해 차량을 절취하여 면허없이 경부고속도로로 도주하는 피혐의자를 약 27km 추격끝에 검거했다.

 검거 당시 운전자는 심신미약 상태에 면허가 취소된 여성으로 고속도로상 대형교통사고로 이어질 수 있는 위험한 상황이었다. 

이에 고속도로순찰대는 순찰차 7대를 나들목 구간마다 배치시키고 도주하는 용의차량을 추격하여 사고 없이 조기에 운전자를 검거할 수 있었다. 

 최주원 경북경찰청장은 “미리 순찰차를 배치하고 안전에 최우선을 둔 추격·검거로 큰 사고를 예방할 수 있었다”며, “경찰은 앞으로도 국민들이 안전하게 고속도로를 이용할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
