지난 13일에는 구미시 진평동에서 3일간의 끈질긴 탐문 수사로 상해 등 총 2건의A등급 수배자를 검거했으며, 순찰 중 폭력적인 조현병 환자와 실랑이를 벌이는 시청 공무원의 도움요청을받아, 지속적인 설득 끝에 응급입원 조치를 취하기도 했다.

기동순찰대는 지난해 이상동기 범죄를 계기로 범죄예방 및 대응력 강화를 위해전국적으로 신설된 조직이다.

도보순찰을 통해 ‘경청과 응답’의 자세로 주민과 대화를 나누면서 범죄 취약지를발굴하고, 범죄예방활동을 펼치는 등 문제해결적 범죄예방활동을실시하고 있다.

13개팀 총 92명으로 구성된 경북 기동순찰대는 범죄데이터 분석을 바탕으로특정 지역에 국한되지 않고 치안 수요에 맞게 근무 장소를 다양화할 계획이다.

김철문 경북청장은 “앞으로도 기동순찰대는 도민의 입장에서 원하는 것이 무엇인지 듣고즉각 응답하는 등도민이 안전을 체감할 수 있도록 최선을다하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
