【브레이크뉴스 대구】이성현 기자=대구광역시는 시스템반도체 경쟁력 확보 및 팹리스 기업지원 기반 조성을 위해 오는 2월, 대구시청 산격청사 201동에 위치한 ‘지능형 반도체 개발지원센터’를 개소한다고 31일 밝혔다.

이번 사업은 지난해 5월 산업통상자원부의 ‘지능형 반도체 개발·실증 지원’ 사업 공모에 선정돼, 2024년부터 4년간 총 189.4억 원(국비 130.9억 원, 시비 52.9억 원, 민자 5.6억 원)을 투입한다.

지능형 반도체 개발지원센터는 기업입주공간, 설계지원 환경조성, 인력양성 및 시제품 제작 지원으로 지역 팹리스 산업 육성의 거점 역할을 하게 된다.

사업 주관기관인 경북대학교 산학협력단은 대구시청 산격청사 201동에 ‘지능형 반도체 개발지원센터’를 설립하고 반도체 개발, 상용화 및 시장진출을 지원할 계획이다.

또한, 한국팹리스산업협회도 사업에 참여해 반도체 시제품 제작, 반도체 설계 전문 교육, 기술 지원 등을 담당한다.

최근 지능형 반도체는 인공지능(AI), 미래 모빌리티, 스마트 디바이스 및 로봇 등 다양한 첨단산업의 핵심부품으로, 수요가 급격히 증가하고 있다.

특히 인공지능 구현에 사용되면서 전세계적으로 개발 경쟁이 더욱 치열해지고 있다.

지능형 반도체는 뛰어난 설계기술과 창의적 아이디어로 경쟁력을 확보할 수 있어 팹리스 기업의 역할이 더욱 중요해지고 있다.

2030년 세계 팹리스 시장 규모는 5,469억 달러에 이를 것으로 전망(QYResearch, 2024.8.)＊되나, 현재 국내 팹리스의 시장 점유율은 1% 수준에 불과하여 국내 팹리스 기업의 글로벌 경쟁력 확보가 시급한 상황이다.

대구시는 비수도권 최대 반도체 인력육성 및 수급 기반과 핵심 수요처인 모빌리티 부품 및 스마트 디바이스 산업기반을 갖추고 있다.

이번 ‘지능형 반도체 개발지원센터’ 개소를 통해 대구시는 우수한 팹리스 기업 유치를 촉진하고 지역 팹리스 산업 활성화를 적극 지원할 계획이다.

이를 통해 대구를 비수도권 최초의 팹리스 산업 성장 거점으로 육성하는 전환점을 마련할 방침이다.

최운백 대구광역시 미래혁신성장실장은 “시(市)-산-학 협력을 통해 시스템반도체 산업에서 핵심적인 역할을 하는 팹리스 기업을 집중 육성하여, 대구가 미래 반도체 시대를 선도하는 핵심 지역으로 도약할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

The Intelligent Semiconductor Development Support Center will serve as a base for fostering the local fabless industry by providing space for companies to move in, creating a design support environment, training personnel, and supporting prototype production.

The Kyungpook National University Industry-Academic Cooperation Group, the project organizer, plans to establish the ‘Intelligent Semiconductor Development Support Center’ in Building 201 of the Daegu City Hall Industrial Complex and support semiconductor development, commercialization, and market entry.

In addition, the Korea Fabless Industry Association will participate in the project and be in charge of semiconductor prototype production, semiconductor design specialized education, and technical support.

Recently, intelligent semiconductors have become core components for various cutting-edge industries such as artificial intelligence (AI), future mobility, smart devices, and robots, and demand is rapidly increasing.

Daegu City has the largest semiconductor human resources training and supply base outside the metropolitan area, as well as the mobility parts and smart device industry base, which are key demand sources.

Through the opening of this ‘Intelligent Semiconductor Development Support Center,’ Daegu City plans to actively support the attraction of excellent fabless companies and the revitalization of the local fabless industry.

Through this, the plan is to establish a turning point to foster Daegu as the first fabless industry growth base outside the metropolitan area.
