홍 시장은 “남상권 변호사는 2025년 2월 24일 MBC라디오 '김종배의 시선집중'에 출연해 지난 2020년 5월 6일 조해진 전 의원과 명태균을 내가 함께 만났고, 2021년 11월 17일에는 자택에서 이준석 의원과 명태균을 함께 만났으며, 2022년 1월 19일 윤석열 대통령과의 만남을 명태균이 주선했다고 주장했다”며 “조해진 전 의원과는 만난 사실 자체가 없고, 자택에서 만난 것도 이준석 의원뿐이며, 윤석열 대통령과 회동을 주선한 것은 함승희 전 의원”이라고 고소 이유를 설명했다.
그러면서 “이러한 사실은 이미 언론을 통해 공개된 내용으로, 남 변호사와 명태균은 홍준표 시장이 명태균을 만나지 않다고 거짓말을 한다고 주장하며 홍준표 시장을 거짓말하는 정치인으로 만들었기에 공직선거법 제250조 제2항 허위사실공표죄로 고발한다”고 밝혔다.
홍준표 시장은 또, 이날 김종인 전 비대위원장에게 복당을 부탁하는 전화를 했다는 명태균의 녹취에 대해 명태균을 추가로 고발하기로 했다.
