울진군은 ‘2026 뉴욕페스티벌 대한민국-국가브랜드 대상’ 시상식에서 ‘울진대게’가 농수축산물 브랜드 대게 부문 10년 연속 수상했으며, ‘평생돌봄도시’ 부문에서도 대상을 수상했다고 밝혔다.

울진대게는 소비자 인지도와 신뢰도, 브랜드 경쟁력을 종합 평가하는 국가브랜드경쟁력지수(NCI)에서 높은 평가를 받으며 대한민국 대표 수산물로서의 위상을 다시 한번 입증했다. 왕돌초 인근 해역의 풍부한 먹이 환경에서 자라 단맛과 풍미가 뛰어난 것이 특징이다.

지역 어업인들은 총허용어획량(TAC) 제도 준수와 금어기 운영, 생분해성 어구 사용 확대, 폐어망 수거 등 자율적인 자원 보호 활동을 이어오고 있으며, 울진군과 경상북도는 대게 보육초 설치와 품질 인증 관리 등을 통해 지속 가능한 수산업 기반을 강화하고 있다.

이와 함께 울진군은 생애 전주기를 아우르는 복지정책을 인정받아 ‘평생돌봄도시’ 부문 대상을 처음 수상했다. 군은 ‘요람에서 무덤까지’를 목표로 생애주기별 맞춤형 복지 정책을 추진하고 있으며, 초고령사회 대응을 위한 노인복지 강화와 울진군의료원을 중심으로 한 의료 안전망 구축에도 힘쓰고 있다.

또한 울진군립추모원 운영을 통해 삶의 마지막까지 군민의 존엄을 지키는 복지 정책도 추진 중이다.

울진군 관계자는 “어업인들의 노력으로 울진대게가 10년 연속 국가브랜드대상을 수상하고, 군민 중심 복지정책까지 함께 인정받아 의미가 크다”며 “지속 가능한 수산업과 체감형 복지정책을 확대해 지역 경쟁력을 더욱 강화해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

Uljin Snow Crab received a high rating in the National Brand Competitiveness Index (NCI), which comprehensively evaluates consumer awareness, trust, and brand competitiveness, once again proving its status as Korea’s representative seafood.
