【브레이크뉴스 울진】이우근 기자=울진군(군수 손병복)은 오는 10월 31일 이탈리아 로마에 위치한 FAO(세계식량농업기구) 본부에서 열리는 ‘2025 세계중요농업유산 인증서 수여식(GIAHS Certificate Award Ceremony)’에 참석해 ‘울진금강송 산지농업시스템’의 세계중요농업유산 인증서를 공식 수여받는다.

이번 행사는 FAO가 주최·주관하는 국제행사로, 전 세계 농업유산의 지속가능한 보전과 가치 확산을 목적으로 열린다. 울진군은 지난 7월 세계중요농업유산으로 지정된 ‘울진금강송 산지농업시스템’을 대표해 인증서를 받는 영예를 안게 됐다.

이번 수여식에는 울진군을 비롯해 하동군과 광양시(재첩잡이 손틀어업), 제주특별자치도(제주해녀), 남해군(죽방렴) 등 우리나라 5개 지역이 함께 참여한다. 울진군은 행사 기간 동안 FAO 본부 Atrium과 8층 Terrace에서 GIAHS 관련 자료 전시와 홍보관을 운영하며, 금강송주·와송즙·솔방울빵·금강솔 패브릭 퍼퓸 등 지역 특산품과 홍보 리플릿을 통해 울진의 농업유산과 문화를 세계에 알릴 계획이다.

또한 울진군 대표단은 GIAHS 수여식 참석과 더불어 유럽 현지의 친환경 농업 선진 사례를 학습하고, 세계 농업유산 보전 및 활용에 대한 벤치마킹 활동도 병행할 예정이다.

군은 이번 세계중요농업유산 인증을 계기로 울진금강송 산지농업의 국제적 위상을 높이고, 지역 농촌관광 활성화와 농산물 브랜드 가치 제고를 통해 지역 소득 증대를 도모할 방침이다.

손병복 울진군수는 “이번 세계중요농업유산 인증은 울진의 전통 산지농업과 금강송의 가치가 세계적으로 인정받은 결과”라며 “앞으로도 울진의 농업유산과 자연자원을 보전하고, 이를 기반으로 한 지속가능한 지역 발전을 이루어가겠다”고 밝혔다.ㅍ

Uljin Geumgangsong Mountain Agricultural System Receives Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System Certification

Uljin County (Governor Son Byeong-bok) will attend the "2025 GIAHS Certificate Award Ceremony" held at the FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy on October 31st to officially receive the GIAHS certification for the "Uljin Geumgangsong Mountain Agricultural System."

This international event, hosted and organized by FAO, aims to promote the sustainable conservation and value of agricultural heritage worldwide. Uljin County has the honor of receiving the certification on behalf of the "Uljin Geumgangsong Mountain Agricultural System," which was designated a GIAHS in July.

Five regions in South Korea will participate in this award ceremony: Uljin County, Hadong County, Gwangyang City (hand-held trawl fishing), Jeju Special Self-Governing Province (Jeju Haenyeo), and Namhae County (jukbangryeom). During the event, Uljin County will exhibit GIAHS-related materials and operate a promotional booth in the FAO headquarters atrium and on the 8th floor terrace. The county plans to promote Uljin's agricultural heritage and culture to the world through promotional leaflets and local specialties such as Geumgang pine liquor, wasong juice, pine cone bread, and Geumgang pine fabric perfume.

In addition to attending the GIAHS award ceremony, the Uljin County delegation will learn about advanced eco-friendly agricultural practices in Europe and conduct benchmarking activities on the conservation and utilization of global agricultural heritage sites.

Uljin County plans to capitalize on this GIAHS designation to elevate the international status of Uljin Geumgang pine farming and increase local income by stimulating local rural tourism and enhancing the brand value of agricultural products.

Uljin County Governor Son Byeong-bok said, “This Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System certification is the result of the value of Uljin’s traditional mountain agriculture and Geumgang pine being recognized worldwide,” and added, “We will continue to preserve Uljin’s agricultural heritage and natural resources and achieve sustainable regional development based on this.”
