최근 진입 장벽이 낮고 건강 증진 효과가 뛰어난 ‘파크골프’가 시니어 세대를 중심으로 각광받고 있으며, 울진군 내 파크골프 회원 수도 800여 명에 이를 정도로 인기가 높다.

이에 발맞춰 울진군은 북면 흥부생활체육공원과 기성면에 각각 9홀 규모의 소규모 파크골프장을 오는 2026년까지 단계적으로 조성할 계획이다. 군은 이를 통해 전 연령층이 즐길 수 있는 생활체육 기반을 확대하고, 저변을 넓힌다는 구상이다.

또한 군은 현재 운영 중인 울진 파크골프장(36홀)에 이어, 평해 월송리 일원에 전국대회 유치가 가능한 36홀 규모의 공인 파크골프장을 추가 확보할 방침이다. 해당 구장은 바다와 강이 어우러진 아름다운 자연경관을 갖춰 전국 파크골프 동호인들로부터 높은 관심을 받고 있다.
