포항교육 바로세우기 위한 학부모 모임(이하 학부모 단체) 회원들이 지난 3일 장경식 포항시장 예비후보는지지선언을 했다.

4일 장경식 포항시장 예비후보 캠프에 따르면 ‘학부모 단체’ 회원들이 전날 예비후보 캠프에서 지지선언을 통해 “포항 학생들의 현안문제를 해결하기 위해 장경식 후보만큼 적임자가 없다”고 밝혔다.

학부모단체 대표 A 씨(48세)는 “ 장경식 후보가 포항교육을 위해 중앙초등학교 이전개교, 동성고등학교 기숙사 신축, 양덕 초등학교 안전문제 해결, 몇 개교 다목적 강당 신축 등 우리 아이들의 교육여건 개선을 위해 많은 관심과 실천하는 모습을 보고 지지를 결심했다”고 밝혔다.

이어, “포항의 고등학교가 북구에 너무 편중되어 있어 남구 학생들이 등교거리가 멀고 소요시간이 길어 사설 스쿨버스 이용 시, 현금영수증 및 교육비관련 소득공제 관련 집행이 어려운 부분이 많다”고 밝히고 “아이들 급식 관련해 신선한 지역농산물 활용문제, 학교주변 주정차 문제, 병설유치원 통학버스 및 초등학교 방학기간 점심 및 보호관련 문제 등의 해결이 절실하다”고 건의했다.

장경식 후보는 “관련내용을 제도화해 아이들이 불편하지 않게 학교에 다닐 수 있게 하겠다”며 “오천,문덕 일대의 예정된 고등학교 2개 부지중 1개 부지를 조속한 시일 내에 심사 통과 시켜 빠른 개교가 될 수 있도록 최선을 다 하겠다” 고 했다.

더불어 “제도적 검토 후 가능한 방안을 강구하고 필요하면 조례제정 및 규정 변경을 통해서라도 우리의 미래인 아이들이 최적의 여건 속에서 공부할 수 있게 빠르고 강력하게 추진하겠다”고 약속했다.

학부모 단체 회원 이진희(42)씨는 “이곳, 포항에서 두 자녀들을 교육 시켰고, 손자도 포항에서 키우고 있는 장경식 후보자가 시장이 돼야 실질적인 교육여건 개선이 가능하다”며 “우리 학부모들이 유권자로서 포항의 교육여건 개선을 할 적임자가 누구인지 잘 판단해 소중한 한표를 꼭 행사해야 한다" 고 강조했다.
