【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=경상북도는 26일 산타클라라 한인상공회의소와‘실리콘밸리 스타트업 아카데미 경북 MOU’를 개최했다고 밝혔다

경북도에 따르면 이번 행사는‘메타버스 수도 경북’에 걸맞게 경북도청 전정과 미래창고를 배경으로 한 가상공간에서 이철우 도지사, 방호열 산타클라라 한인상공회의소 회장, 상공회의소 임원, 기관 관계자 등 16명이 아바타로 참석해 메타버스로 진행됐다.

이번 협약은 스타트업 교육 프로그램을 통하여 글로벌 CEO를 양성하고, 도내 기업의 글로벌 VC ‧ AC와의 협업 및 네트워킹을 통한 성공적인 해외 진출을 위해 마련됐다.

창업교육 및 글로벌 리더십 아카데미 개최, 경북 소재 스타트업과 해외 AC· VC와의 투자 연계 플랫폼 구축, 차세대 글로벌 인재 육성을 위한 벤치마킹, 국제박람회, 세미나 지원을 주요 내용으로 하고 있다.

이번 협약은 올해 초 CES 2023(소비자가전박람회/ 미국 라스베거스)을방문한 이달희 경상북도 경제부지사가 CES 경상북도관 참관 후 실리콘밸리에 소재한 세계적 반도체 기업인 NVIDIA를 방문하면서 산타클라라 상공회의소 회장단, 해외 자문위원 등 주요 인사들을 만난 자리에서 도내 스타트업의 실리콘밸리 진출을 위한 협의 끝에 이뤄졌다.

경상북도는 해외 경험과 역량 부족으로 해외진출에 어려움을 겪고 있는 도내 스타트업들이 글로벌 기업으로 도약할 수 있도록 적극 지원하는 한편 현재 추진하고 있는 경북 스타트업 플랫폼 지원사업, 혁신벤처 액셀러레이팅 프로그램 등 글로벌 시장 진출 지원 사업에 더욱 박차를 가할 예정이다.

한편, 2017년에 설립한 산타클라라 한인상공회의소는 산타클라라에 위치해 한국 기업, 대학생들을 위한 창업교육 프로그램은 물론실리콘밸리에 진출한 유명 기업 및 기관, 전문기술인, 창업투자 전문 VC대표들을 초빙해 세미나를 진행하는 등 한국 스타트업들의 교육뿐만 아니라 해외 진출을 위해노력하고 있다.

이철우 경상북도지사는 “한국과 미국이라는 거리적 제약에도 불구하고 메타버스로 협약을 진행하여 매우 뜻깊게 생각한다”면서 “앞으로도 메타버스를 활용하여 해외 진출을 원하는 도내 스타트업이 경북을 뛰어넘어 세계적인 기업으로 나아갈 수 있도록 활발히 교류해 나가자”고 당부했다.

Gyeongbuk startups spur to advance into the global market

  Its main contents include entrepreneurship training and global leadership academy, establishment of a platform for investment linkages between startups in Gyeongbuk and overseas AC/VC, benchmarking for fostering next-generation global talent, and support for international fairs and seminars.

This agreement was signed by Dalhee Lee, vice governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do, who visited CES 2023 (Consumer Electronics Fair/ Las Vegas, USA) earlier this year. It was made after discussions for startups in the province to advance into Silicon Valley.

Gyeongsangbuk-do actively supports provincial startups that are experiencing difficulties in overseas expansion due to lack of overseas experience and capacity to become global companies, while advancing into the global market through the Gyeongbuk startup platform support project and innovative venture accelerator program. We will further accelerate our support projects.

Meanwhile, the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Santa Clara, established in 2017, is located in Santa Clara. We are working hard not only to educate Korean startups, but also to advance overseas.
