특히, 앵커 기업존은 지역의 미래산업을 선도할 수 있는 기업을 위한 공간으로 조성하고, 혁신 기업존은 미래자동차, 도심항공교통(UAM), 스마트로봇 등 미래 신산업을 위한 기업공간으로 활용할 것으로 보인다. 

최근 논란이 되고 있는 국립근대미술관과 뮤지컬콤플렉스를 조성하려 했던 공간은 공공기관 이전으로 채우겠다고 밝혔다. 대구시 이종헌 정책총괄단장은 “경북도청 후적지를 산업혁신거점으로 조성하려는 만큼 앵커기업과 혁신기업들의 성장을 적극 지원할 수 있는 공공기관이 이곳에 배치된다면 문화시설을 유치하는 것보다 더 큰 시너지 효과를 이끌어 낼 것”이라는 전망치를 내놓았다.

이 단장은 이어 “대구시는 이전 공공기관 대상 선정을 위해 미래산업R&D 전반을 아우를 수 있는 연구기관과 ABB, 혁신창업과 관련한 공공기관들부터 우선 물색하겠다 ”며 “경북도청 후적지와 인접한 산격1동 재개발 예정지역(32만㎡)은 지구단위계획 통개발 계획을 조속히 수립해 도심융합특구와 연계한 미래세대를 위한 신 주거공간으로 조성하고, 경북도청 후적지에 도심항공교통망 구축을 위한 버티포트를 설치해 신공항, K-2공항 후적지 등 지역 내 주요거점과 항공교통망이 연결되도록 하겠다”고 말했다.
